A festival to rejoice the colours, crisscross green-yellow lined, mehandi, rains and swings, Teej is celebrated mainly by women folk of Rajasthan. Married women who idolize Parvati for her devotion to her husband, Shiva, celebrate Teej. Though the festival is celebrated all over the state,but particularly colourful in Jaipur.

Ramdeora Fair, Jaisalmer

Ramdeora Fair, Pokhran, Jaisalmer is attended by a large number of people from all over India to pay omage to venerated Baba Ramdeo who holds firm belief in the minds of both Hindus and Muslims. This eleven day fair is attended by a large number of devotees and holds a lot of importance for the local inhabitants.

The last 2 days of the fair are the most important and the zest and ardor of the pilgrims is worth watching. This is a good place for foreigners to come face to face with the local people's tradition, culture and their perception of the religion.

Dussehra Festival, Kota

Dussehra is a very auspicious and sacred day for Hindus as it symbolizes the victory of good over evil. In the year 2010, Dussehra will fall on 17th September. Days and months before Dussehra, craftsmen engage themselves in making huge effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbhakaran and son Meghnath.

On the day of Dussehra, a huge fair is organized in large gardens called “maidans”, where villagers gather in colorful clothes to worship Lord Rama and celebrate his victory. The effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran are burnt.

Marwar Festival, Jodhpur

This festival is extremely popular in Jodhpur region. The festival has on display the music and dance of the Marwar region. The spirited folk dancers assembled here, perform with gusto and entertain the audience with Rajasthani folklore.

The massive Meharangarh fort and the impresive Umaid Bhawan Palace which are symbols of might and valour of the Rajputs, make Jodhpur an ideal location for the festival.

Pushkar Fair, Ajmer

The Cattle Fair of Pushkar is the spotlight of an Indian holiday. It's during this period that the population of 14,000 swells to over 200,000 while the festival hosts over 50,000 camles which are sold, raced and decorated.

Pushkar, the holy town in Rajasthan is known for it's sacred lake and the only Brahma Temple in the world. The Fair is predominantly a gathering with thousands of camels, cattle and horses for trade, with added attractions of games, races, local folk dances, song and entertainment.

Kolayat Fair, Bikaner

Kolayat Fair also known as the Kapil Muni Fair is the largest fair of Bikaner, Rajasthan. Thousands of tourists visit this fair and take a dip on the holy lake Ther. Ther is a lake with 52 ghats and surrounded by banyan trees.

A temple with a marble statue of the saint is dedicated to Kapil Muni. Though people visit this place all round the year. It is believed that a day’s stay at Kolayat is equivalent of spending 10 years at any other holy place.
