Siliserh Lake, Alwar
Siliserh lies just 13 km from Alwar, on the road to Jaipur and is a popular picnic
spot. It was built as a summer retreat and is a delightful little palace set in
a picture- postcard location. Overlooking a tranquil lake and surrounded by hills,
Siliserh is the place you should head to for a quiet and peaceful holiday.
The enchanting Siliserh Lake was built in 1845 AD by Maharaja Vinay Singh for his
Queen Shila . The lake was built by constructing an earthen dam between two hills
to store the water of a small tributary of river Ruparel.
Siliserh Lake spans over a wide expansion of seven sq kms. This lake poses as an
imposing backdrop to the Siliserh palace, which has been converted in to a heritage
hotel. With a splendid regal palace, the lake has an inspiring mix of breathtaking
beauty and architectural charisma. This pretty lake is festooned with domed cenotaphs,
which themselves boast of a grandeur in architecture.
Besides its impressive looks, the lake is a hot spot of challenge loving people
since it presents a perfect track for angling. The magnificence of this stunning
water body can be awe-inspiring from the balcony of the palace hotel. The beauty
of the pond is so graceful that one would not mind spending hours on its lovely
banks.
The lake is picturesquely set amidst the forested slopes of Aravalli Hills. The
lake attracts a lot of migratory birds adding colour and music to the scene. But
for the hustle of the whispering woods and chirping birds, the place promises total
calm and is ideal for a trek.
