Kiran Soni Gupta
Kiran Soni Gupta is an artist, writer and an activist administrator, She is presently
serving as Divisional Commissioner, Jodhpur in Rajasthan. She has been a Mason Fellow
at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University in 2005-06.
Career Profile
After a brilliant career in academics, she joined the Indian Administrative Service
in 1985 and has held various distinguished assignments in the Government of India,
Kerala & Rajasthan.
Her concerns and sensitivity to various contemporary issues have been expressed
regularly in her writing in many national and international newspapers and journals
including "The Hindu", "The Indian Express", "The Tribune" & "The Economic Times".
Despite having no formal training in art she has produced a number of works in different
art forms and styles.
Her works very vividly reflect not only her conviction and clarity on issues relating
to women, children, poverty, development, environment but also her keen sense of
observation, humility and above all an abounding faith in god and service to humanity
and mankind.
From sketches, pen & ink works to mixed media she has given new horizons to art
forms both traditional and modern.
Artistic Achievements
Kiran's association with well known artists & masters has led her to some of her
best etchings, wood cuts, linocuts, lithography & calligraphies.
Her works have been exhibited at different national/international events more recently
at New York, Cambridge, Syracuse, Toronto, Chicago, London, Iran and Srilanka. She
was also a visiting artist at the East West Centre, Hawaii.
