Institute Profile Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur (IICD), was established by the Government of Rajasthan for the development of handicrafts industry. The institute is managed by Ambuja Educational Institute.
Nodal centre for Craft and Design IICD is a unique institution which is working to develop the traditional knowledge and skills to evolve methodologies that are relevant to modern India. In Craft and Design it has been conceived as a nodal centre for excellence and playing an important role in handicrafts industry.
Education in IICD IICD conducts under graduate program is of 4 years / 8 semesters duration and post-graduation program of 2 and a half years / 5 semesters duration in which the students learn for developing knowledge and human-resources to bring a qualitative change in the Craft sector, working towards improving the quality of life of the craftsperson, enhancing the quality of craft products.
Faculty The real strength of the IICD is its faculty. All the faculty members are practicing professionals and possess a fine blend of practical craft design experience combined with excellent academic credentials.
Consultancy and Extension Activities IICD includes consultancy and extension activities as crucial and conducts programs with artisans, self-help groups and non-governmental organizations.
These projects are designed to assist large groups of people with traditional skills and to help self respecting creative individuals towards becoming job seeking workers.
