About Jaipur Parliamentary Constituency
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan is an urban constituency where caste equations don’t count for all that much. It is more about ideas, visions and most of all, ability to capture the imagination of the middle class voters that determines the final result.
The BJP has been winning the Lok Sabha seat since 1991. In the previous assembly elections, the BJP won five of the eight segments, while the Congress won three. The BJP vote was about 55,000 more than the Congress vote.
Giridhari Lal Bhargava had made it his home turf. This year the scene will be different due to sad demise of Mr Bhargava just a monthback.
The BJP has fielded Ghanshyam Tiwari while the Congress has fielded Mahesh Joshi. Both are Brahmins, but it is not very likely that caste considerations will count for much in an urban setting.
