Jaipur to Host International Film Festival of Short and Documentary Films - JIFF 2009
Film festivals, shows, music concerts that happen from time to time add a little zing to the Jaipur life. These concerts are not very frequent, but still are very popular among visitors and residents alike.
In the past, Jaipur has been the host to some of the popular film festivals because of its popularity among foreign and local visitors. These events have been mostly of national scale. But this year Jaipur is set to host an event of International repute, The “International Film Festival for Short and Documentary Films” is scheduled to start from Jan 31′ 09.

The Jaipur Film Club is going to organize the first two-day International Film Festival from January 31’09 at Maharana Pratap Auditorium in the Pink City.
During the festival, about 35 short and documentary films will be screened. Awards will be given for three categories-Best Audience Film, Best Documentary and Best Short Film. The festival will offer an opportunity for film makers of short films to witness movies from different cultures.
It will be directly connected to the common man, who had been neglected by the rich and the fashionable societies. For the last three years, filmmakers of Jaipur and their films had been ignored by other clubs in the competitions.
The state government too had undermined the local talents and kept them away from any such film competition. Noted film personalities will be invited to explain the fine points to those interested in films through workshops. This type of film festival here in Jaipur bound to give a new horizon for the existence of the media of Rajasthan
In this festival , there will be two categories : short film and documentary film. To be eligible for short film category, a film must be less than 15 minutes in duration while a documentary must not exceed duration of more than 30 minutes.
