The New Year’s Eve is December 31st, the final day of the Year, and the day before the New Year’s Day. New Year’s eve has its separate identity of its own like the New Year Day. This wonderful occasion of New Year eve is all about dance, music, gifts and good wishes of happiness and prosperity in the New Year, to the near and dear ones.
In the 21st century western practice, the New Year’s Eve is celebrated with parties and social gatherings until 12 “0″ clock midnight. The parties continue till then, till the anxiety of the New Year exists. In India, most celebrations take place in the larger cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai and Jaipur.
New Year Celebrations in Rajasthan
In Rajasthan, majority of the elderly people spend their new year watching television programs instead of partying outside home. The younger generation gather and host private parties along with dinner and few drinks. The celebrations generally begin in the dusk.
In many cities of India, the celebrities and film stars perform in the concerts. There were some events organized in Jaipur too, but overall the new year eve was little silent this time around.
The scars of Jaipur blasts, Jodhpur stampede and Mumbai attacks still haunt the people’s mind. To pay their tributes to those killed in the terror attacks, many city youths decided to lit a candle in the memory of victims to observe a silence of two minutes on new year eve.
We hope that next year there wont be any incidents of such kind, and with this new mindset, we wish you too a prosperous year ahead.
