About Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth Games is a multinational, multi-sport event in which thousands
of athletes from Commonwealth member nations participate. This event is organised
every four years, and is the third-largest multi-sport event in the world. First
largest is Summer Olympic Games and second largest is Asian Games.
Commonwealth Games 2010, Delhi, India
Commonwealth Games, which are considered to be one of the most important sporting
events, will be held in New Delhi this year. It is a pride for India that Commonwealth
Games will be held in India for the first time and in Asia for the second time.
The event is scheduled to be held between 3rd and 14th October 2010.
The historic day of starting of Commonwealth Games is approaching closer and India has made all preparations to meet to the expectations of the athletes and tourists. Delhi had started its preparations long back and each new day is just accentuating the amenities provided to the travelers. Their comfort and security comes first for Indian Government.
Delhi Government has taken several initiatives and everyone is looking forward to this exciting multi sports event. Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi opening ceremony will be held at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium on 3rd October and the closing ceremony is scheduled to be held on 14th October 2010. About Delhi
Delhi, famous for numerous historic monuments, is a melting pot of rich culture
and contemporary entertainment. Delhi tourism board has renovated most of the architectural
masterpieces created by Mughal and Britishers. Some such architectural treasures

The main source of inspiration for 2010's Commonwealth Games logo is Ashoka Chakra,
which stands as the symbol for freedom, unity and power. This logo was revealed
at an event held at the India Gate on 6th January, 2008.
The logo has spirals at the upward direction which symbolizes the rise of our country as a global power and showcases its evolution from a traditional country to a modern nation. The colors of the logo symbolizes the diverse and vibrant culture of the country and its citizens. Apart from these, other parts of the logo displays India's heartiest welcome to the 71 nations of Commonwealth groups. Countries Participating in the Commonwealth Games
The infrastructure of the country has been upgraded for the Commonwealth Games as
many countries will be the guest of Delhi,India. The four countries of United Kingdom
will be sending their individual teams to the Games. Delhi will be host to England,
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland of UK.
In addition to this, Jersey, the Isle of Man and Guernsey the British Crown Dependencies will also send their individual teams. Even this time the six teams that are an integral part of Commonwealth Games are taking part and coming to India. They are Canada, Australia, England, New Zealand, Wales and Scotland.
