Kirori Lal Meena - Veteran Political Leader - Contesting as Individual from Dausa

Veteran Meena community leader Kirori Lal Meena has decided to contest from Dausa as an independent candidate in this year’s General Elections. He has left Congress as he got dissatisfied with the negotiations over Lok Sabha seat distribution in Rajasthan.

Meena’s Moves from BJP to Congress – Past Political Events

Last Year, KL Meena  left a ministerial berth in the Vasundhara Raje government in protest against what he called her bad governance.

Congress failed to get a clear majority in the 200-member state assembly elections. Meena and his wife Golma Devi along with other independent MLAs helped Congress and Ashok Gehlot secure a majority

During the assembly elections it was Kirori Lal who managed to single-handedly dent BJP’s prospects by ditching his old party.  Meenas, a community known to vote bank, handed over Kirori Lal and his supporters a thumping victory which helped prop Congress to power when it fell short of the majority mark.

KL Meena’s Tussle with Congress Over Lok Sabha Seat Distribution

The Meena leader’s relationship with the Congress began chafing over the party ticket from the now reserved Dausa constituency. Kirori Lal claimed that he has been insulted by the Congress, particularly Union Minister Namo Narain Meena, who is also in the fray for Dausa.

Golma Devi, a Minister of State in Gehlot government resigned last week over alleged rifts between the Congress and her husband Kirori Lal Meena who is understood to have proposed his own candidates in seven Parliamentary seats to which Congress did not agree.

A View on Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena’s  Profile

Kiran Maheshwari – BJP candidate for Ajmer Parliamentary Constituency of Rajasthan

Kiran Maheshwari for Ajmer Parliamentary Constituency, Rajasthan Elections

Kiran Maheshwari for Ajmer Parliamentary Constituency, Rajasthan Elections

Kiran Maheshwari is the BJP Candidate for Ajmer Parliamentary Constituency of Rajasthan State in General Elections India 2009. She will Contest against Congress candidate Sachin Pilot.

Political Career

Maheshwari had won from Udaipur Lok Sabha seat in 2004 against Congress leader Girija Vyas, but after delimitation Udaipur became a Scheduled Tribe seat. She resigned as MP late last year and successfully contested the Assembly elections from Rajsamand. Barely four months after her election as an MLA, she is now again aspiring to be an MP from Ajmer.

After getting Nominated as a Candidate, she claimed that after winning the elections, she would solve every problem of the district and her preferences are to extend the broad gauge in Ajmer and provide 24 hours drinking water supply.

When asked if her being an MLA and now vying for the Ajmer seat could send a wrong message to voters in her assembly seat, she replied, “I am not the only MP who is contesting elections while being an MLA. There are many political leaders who while being MLAs are in fray for Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.”

Why She is Nominated from Ajmer?

Kiran’s candidature reflects that party had difficulty in finding a suitable candidate against Sachin Pilot, who is contesting from Ajmer after a major chunk of Gujjar vote bank was attached to the constituency after delimitation.

But BJP analysts have other things in mind that Kiran would help Rasa Singh Rawat who is contesting from Rajsamand and in return Rawat would provide his Rawat community vote bank.

Rasa Singh Rawat has won the Ajmer seat five times in past elections because of Rawat vote bank.

BJP Nominates Ghanshyam Tiwari for Jaipur Seat in Upcoming General Elections

BJP Fields Ghanshyam Tiwari in Jaipur for Lok Sabha Elections

BJP Fields Ghanshyam Tiwari in Jaipur for Lok Sabha Elections

BJP on Friday nominated Ghanshyanm Tiwari as its candidate from the prestigious Jaipur Seat. This seems to be an apparent bow to RSS pressure,  from where both the leading parties have now fielded Brahmins.

The Party had to re- announce its candidate from Jaipur as sitting MP Girdharailal Bhargava, who was on the BJP’s first list, passed away recently.

The candidature of Ghanshyam Tiwari from Jaipur is seen as an outcome of the pressure mounted by the RSS functionalities as former chief minister Raje was reportedly keen on picking former state president Mahesh Chand Sharma.

The party high command however, fielded Tiwari, who comes from RSS back ground. At present an MLA from Sanganer assembly seat, Tiwari was food and civil supplies minister in the Raje Government.

Congress has earlier declared that former MLA Mahesh Joshi as its candidate.

Others Nominated Candidates for BJP Party

The BJP Party also announced candidate for five more seats including Kiran Maheshwari against Congress’s Sachin Pilot from Ajmer.

Kiran’s candidature also reflects that party had difficulty in finding a suitable candidate against Sachin Pilot who have major chunk of Gujjar votebank was attached to the constituency after delimitation.

Khemchand Koli, Subhash Maharia and Mahavir Bhagora are the other party candidates announced on Friday.
