Ganeriwal Haveli in Mukundgarh – A Part of Shekhawati Region in Rajasthan

Mukandgarh, a part of Shekhawati region, is a municipality in Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan.  It was founded by Thakur Mukund Singh Saheb with Seth Sevek Ram Ghuwalewala. The Kanodias also played an important role for it. It was the Thikana of Bhojrajji Ka Shekhawats.

It has few mosques and many temples. The iron scissors, textiles and brass ware made here are of extremely dood quality. Fine frescos can be seen at the kanoria, Ganeriwala, Murarka and Saraf Havelis in Mukandgarh . Also worth a visit are Shiv Temple, Gopinath temple and Venugopal temple.

Intricately Carved Facade on Walls

The Ganeriwal Haveli in Mukundgarh is stunning right from the intricately carved facade to courtyard walls; visitors will notice vibrant fresco and murals.

These Narrative murals depicting scenes from local legends, the life of Lord Krishna and depicting episodes from mythologies, are fascinating and tell stories belonging to the rich Indian traditions.

Massive Carved Wooden Gate

Like most havelis in the Shekhawati region, the Ganrriwal Haveli in Mukundgarh opens with a massive carved wooden gate.  The entrance leads to a small courtyard that gives way into a larger courtyard, another peculiarity of Rajasthani architecture.

It was not cramped like a drawing room or dining room, thus allowing the entire family and you must remember that the traditional wealthy joint family in Rajasthan, indeed in most of India, consisted of generations, and an assorted group of service providers such as maids, cooks,  to cooked, played, gossiped, and celebrated together.

Mukandgarh is a city and a municipality in Jhunjhunu district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is part of Shekhawati region. It lies a few km from Nawalgarh.

There are havelis of Kanoria, Ganeriwal and Saraf, which are a fine example of fresco paintings.

Mukundgarh Fort is a heritage property, a grand construction and has amazing detailing of the famous Shekhawati frescoes on the walls. The hotel offers beautifully furnished rooms with a view of the fort’s courtyard or the green vegetation beyond.
