Rabindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur

Rabindra Nath Tagore Medical College (RNTMC), situated in Udaipur, was established in the year 1962.

The college is recognized by Medical Council of India and is affiliated to Rajasthan University of Health and Sciences, Jaipur.

The building of RNTMC was donated by the HH ex-Maharana of Udaipur and its administrative block is housed in another historical palace that was donated by Salumber Rao.

Objective

RNTMC was started with an objective to spread the light of medical education in the state. Over the years, the college has become one of the leading medical institutes in the state. It imparts academic excellence in the field of medicines at multiple levels.

Courses and Admission Procedure

RNTMC offers 5.5 years bachelor’s degree courses in MBBS. To get admission in the college the candidate has to clear PMT (pre medical test) and after that merit list is prepared on the basis of score of the candidates. As per the Government of India norms, the reservation for SC, ST and OBC is available in the college.

Every year, the college offers 100 seats in graduation, 66 seats in post graduation, 18 seats in diploma and 1 seat in DM Cardiology, which commenced from 2006.

Training Standard of RNTMC and Facilities

RNTMC has a very good and professional training standard especially in medicine. It has started offering one seat in DM cardiology from 2006 as well. The students get trained here and it is rendering its services to patients from both rural & urban sectors. The college also provides all basic facilities like canteen, hostel, well furnished classroom, library, conference hall etc.

Practical Education in Hospitals

The college is attached to various hospitals to provide a blend of theoretical and practical education.   The hospitals include the likes of Maharana Bhupal District Hospital, Panadhay Female District Hospital, Hindustan Zinc Cardiology Hospital, Saith Ramvilas Bhuwalaka Yakshma Arogya Sadan and the Badi Tatha Baal Chikitsalaya. In these hospitals the students get the practice training of what they have learnt.

Sardar Patel Medical College, located in Bikaner city, was founded by former Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, in 1959. Previously it was known as Bikaner Medical College.

This college has a distinction of being the second medical college of the state. It is affiliated to Rajasthan University of Health and Sciences, Jaipur.

Nehru’s Dream

Nehru’s dream was that such a center would set the pace for medical education and research in Rajasthan and immediately after independence he prepared a grand design to achieve it as  SP Medical college, center of excellence in the medical sciences.

Objectives of College

The goal of Sardar Patel Medical College is to develop high standard patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Education.

Courses Offered, Departments and Facilities

SP Medical College conducts MBBS at undergraduate level and MD courses at postgraduate level. The college has 100 seats for the MBBS courses and 63 seats for the post graduate students.

The college has total 31 departments Anatomy, P.S.M., Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Dentistry, Biochemistry etc. It is also associated with several hospitals like P.B.M. Male Hospital, P.B.M. Female Hospital, G.G.J. TB Hospital, and Eye Department etc to provide updated knowledge in the field. It has comprehensive facilities for teaching, research and patient-care.

Contribution for Nation

In last 50 years Sardar Patel Medical College Bikaner has given a number of best doctors to the nation. The college has also opened the first Coronary Care Unit of the state.

Sawai Man Singh Medical College, established in 1947, is located in Jaipur and is the oldest and premier medical college of Rajasthan state, India.

The objective of the college is to spread medical education and to provide treatment to the people of state.

Courses

The college conducts 5.5 years of bachelor’s degree course in MBBS, BDS, MD in Anesthesia, Biochemistry etc, MS in Anatomy, Obstetrics, M.Sc (Medicine) in Anatomy, Biochemistry, M.Ch in Pediatric Surgery, Geneto Urinary Surgery. Some Diplomas courses like DA, DGD, DMRD, DPH, DMRT, and DTCD are also offered by this college.

Admission Process

For admission in SMS Medical college the student has to clear pre-medical test. A merit list is prepared on the basis of score of candidates in exam and admission process is done. Reservation is available to different reserved categories like SC, ST and OBC.

Facilities for Students

Regarding facilities the college has three boys and one girl’s hostel. The college has a large library. The students are being taught by some of the finest teachers in the country, who shaped them into what they are today.

Departments and Hospitals

SMS Medical College has 32 departments and six hospitals attached with it. The hospitals associated with the SMS Medical College are Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Zanana Hospital, Mahila Chikitsalaya, TB and Chest Hospital, Sir Padampad Mother and Child Health Center, Psychiatric Center, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center and also an infective disease hospital.
