Fathepur town in shekhawati region is really famous for its Goenka Havelis. Constructed by the wealthy merchants, the Mahaveer Prasad Goenka Haveli, which was built is 1885, has some of the best fresco in perfect match of color and design.

The Goenkas were and still are affluent businessmen in shekhawati region. Their haveli is one of the best to be seen in the Shekhawati Region.

Goenka Havelis Attractions

Many of the paintings depict Lord Krishna’s pastimes- his flirtations with the gopinis, his romance with Radha, are some of the most commonly seen.

The main highlight of the Mahaveer Prasad Goenka Haveli in fatehpur Rajasthan is the painted ceiling in an upstairs room, which is quite often locked and therefore not easily accessible for travelers.

Again, like most havelis in Shekhawati, the Goenka Haveli Fatehpur opens with a massive carved wooden gate. The gate opens into an outer courtyard. This outer courtyard then leads to a smaller inner courtyard.

Founded in the mid 15th century by a Kayamkhani Nawab, Fatehpur’s havelis are unrivalled.

The frescoes on the Devera and Singhania Haveli of Fatehpur are matched by few others. Another haveli, Goenka has brilliant frescoes paintings, with some of them depicting Lord Krishna.

The Ram Gopal Mahavir Prasad Goenka Haveli, Hukmi Chand Choudhri Haveli and Bharatiya Havelis are well worth a visit.

More hybrid examples, the two Bhartia Havelis are also impressive in Fatehpur. These havelis were build presumably around 1920 by Bhartia family. These are adorned with mirror work on their entrances and Japanese tiles patterned with Mount Fuji paintings.

The town of Fatehpur in Shekhawati region has its share of havelis, but few are as beautiful with fresco and well maintained as those in nearby towns like Mandawa.

Fatehpur History

The Muslim Kayamkhani Nawab, Fateh Khan established Fatehpur in 1451. He constructed the fort of Fatehpur in 1449 and ruled up to 1474. It served as the capital of him.

Shekhawat Rajputs took it over in the 18th century.

The Harkishan Das Saraogi Haveli is a bewitching site for the travelers and the connoisseurs in Fatehpur, Rajasthan. The haveli has been exquisitely done.

This beautiful mansion houses a common meeting hall used for welcoming guests on the ground floor. You will love to explore a woman smoking hokkah and a camel drawn cart juxtaposed with a motor car in a the inner courtyard.

You can also see the filigree screens, the jharokas, meant to let the ladies of the house have a peek at the outside world, the doors of which were otherwise closed apparently.

Jagannath Singhania Haveli in Fatehpur, Sikar – Famous for Fine Paintings and Exclusive Rooms

Fatehpur is a town in Sikar district in Rajasthan.  It is midway between Jaipur and Bikaner on National Highway 11. It is famous for grand havelis with frescos, which is specialty of the Shekhawati region.

A number of Bawdis are also centers of attraction here.

The worth seeing havelis in this place are Geori Shankar Haveli, Mahavir Prasad Goenka Haveli, Nand Lal Devra Haveli and Jagannath Singhania Haveli. There is also the Jagannath Singhania Chattri, which has a beautiful garden worth visiting.

The Jagannath Singhania Haveli has some fine paintings of Radha and Krishna and shows some British men holding guns. This haveli has special door rooms situated on the terrace which is open from all sides There is air-circulation from all sides and thus it remains cool naturally.

Exclusive “Baithak” in Haveli

The “Baithak” of  this haveli is  exclusive because it has 5 doors.  Other Baithak’s in the region have 3 doors only. There is room in Haveli “Baradari”  in Persian and Moghul architecture,  with 12 doors designed to allow the free draught of air through it. Persons of repute used it as a venue for formal and informal settings in hot weather.  It is also known as the ‘mehfil’ room.

Havelis Room – “Rangeen Kamra“

Other Room include Rangeen Kamra, which is also known as the colourful room. The speciality of this particular room is that it acts both as a secret chamber and is also renowned for its artistic beauty. The floors, walls as well as the ceilings are hand painted depicting stories based on the life of Lord Krishna.

The haveli has Naal on one side and Nohra on the other side which can be used as open space for parking, swimming pool and is large enough to construct the two together.
