Kanoria Haveli in Mukandgarh, Rajasthan – Beautiful Painted Frescoes and Miniature Paintings Adorn the Haveli

Very close to Dundlod in Shekhawati and around 25 kms in the southeast direction of Mandawa, the town of Mukundgarh is located. This town is built around a temple square, outside the sloping fort walls.

Known as the “Open art gallery of Rajasthan”, this region is mainly famous for its amazing havelis richly painted and decorated built by the early Marwaris.

From painted murals to carvings to mirror work, these havelis have their walls and ceilings adorned with numerous forms of fine art.

The fresco of the some havelis even depict mythological themes as well as images of huge animals.

The Piramal Haveli

The Piramal Haveli in Baggar village, is one of the grandest mansions in Shekhawati. Constructed in 1928, by Seth Piramal Chaturbhuj Makharia, as his family home, it was later converted into a heritage hotel.

The Hotel Piramal Haveli has extensive lawns and courtyards with large pillars. The walls of the courtyard are decorated with frescoes of mythological figures in traditional Rajasthani style.

The region of Shekhawati where Piramal Haveli is situated was made into an independent kingdom in the year 1471 and later on annexed with the Jhunjhunu city.
