Rajasthan “Royal land of India” famous among tourists from across the globe has taken several initiatives to improve the educational scenario in the state.
Apart from school education various initiatives have also been taken to enhance the status of higher education. There are many engineering colleges, institutes for the expansion and improvement of technical education in the state.
We are starting an exclusive series of blogs on educational centers in Rajasthan. The first name which comes to our mind is certainly MNIT, Jaipur.
About MNIT
The Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur is one of the Centers of Excellence in the country. It was established by the MHRD, Government of India. The education institute is governed by the NIT council under the HRD Ministry.
The current Director of the Institute is Prof. R.P.Dahiya.
History
MNIT Jaipur was established in the year 1963. The college was inspired by the great educationist and freedom fighter Pt.Madan Mohan Malaviya and thus named as Malaviya Regional Engineering College. It was framed by joint efforts of the Government of India and the State Government.
In the year 2002, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur was given the status of a Deemed University. The institute imparts courses in the engineering field at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
Courses in MNIT
The Institute conducts various educational programmes leading to the degree of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.), Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.), Master of Technology (MTech.), Master of Science (MSc.), Master of Business Administration (M.B.A), Master of Planning and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in different areas. The institute is having high class faculty including professors, readers, lecturers etc.
Infrastructure of MNIT
The infrastructure of MNIT is very good as it has well equipped library, computer lab, seminar halls,various laboratories, workshops, hostels, health care center, mess, facilities for sports and different departments etc.
There are two canteens to provide refreshments to the students and the staff. There are two guest houses in the campus for needs of guests and students. There is a branch of the Bank of Rajasthan Limited and a Post-Office in the campus.
Other reputed banks such as SBI, ICICI, PNB etc. are within walking distance from the institute campus. A full-fledged Dispensary is also available in the campus which is supervised by a residential Medical Officer.
Placements
Several national and multi-national companies visit MNIT’s campus regularly. Some of the brand names from IT and Non IT companies are ZENSAR, ACCENTURE, WIPRO, INFOSYS, HINDUSTAN ZINC, NEI BEARINGS, BEL, TATA MOTORS. The average placement figures as quoted from different reports come out to be in ascending order of about Rupees four-five lakhs. The highest package has gone of 11LACS.
