Born on May 10, 1914 in Kuchaman city, Rajasthan, Tarachand Barjatya graduated from Vidyasagar College, Calcutta. At the ripe young age of nineteen, he embarked on a promising career in the film industry by initially working as an unpaid apprentice.

Tarachand Barjatya envisioned the inherent potential within his grandson, Sooraj Barjatya. He continuously stimulated the growth of young Sooraj, and encouraged him to independently direct a film for the Rajshri banner.
Awards & Recognition
Tarachand Barjatya was appointed by the Government of India as a member of the committee of films with Mrs. Indira Gandhi as its Chairperson.
He was later again appointed by the Government as a member of the ‘Working Group of Films’ which submitted its report to the Parliament.
He passed away on 21 September 1992.
