Nawalgarh, a fascinating town in Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, was founded by Nawal Singh in 1737.

Aath Haveli Complex in Nawalgarh – Home of Best Haveli Frescoes and Mural in the Shekhawati Region in Rajasthan

Nawalgarh, lying south-west of Jhunjhunu boasts of some of the finest frescoes in the Shekhawati region. Founded in 1737 AD by Thakur Nawal Singh Ji Bahadur (Shekhawat), Nawalgarh was surrounded by a wall and four gates allowing entry to the village.

Aath Haveli Complex in Nawalgarh

The Aath Haveli, Nawalgarh is located on the western side of the Nawalgarh Fort.

Aath Haveli has some of the best haveli frescos in the region. These frescos and murals show the transition in painting styles through the periods. One of the paintings depicts a steam locomotive while others show mammoth images of elephants, horses and camels.

Like all havelis, the Aath Haveli opens into a courtyard surrounded by verandahs that lead to rooms. The interiors of the Haveli are covered with intricate frescos in vibrant colors.
