Alsisar and Malsisar in Shekhwati Region, Rajasthan – Famous for Traditional Havelis, Wells and Reservoirs

Alsisar and Malsisar, are two towns located on the northern most up tip of Shekhawati in Jhujhunu district. They were founded in the late and mid 18th centuries respectively.

The style of the frescoes in these towns and their lively color combination, are a treat for the eyes. Besides painted havelis, wells and reservoirs with ornamental, traditional architecture are worth seeing in both villages.

Tourist Interest in Alsisar

Alsisar village is located at 27 Km. from jhunjhunu. There  are lots of places are worth visiting in Alsisar including painted havelis and forts. It includes Shri Lal ahadur Mal Ki Haveli,  Tejpal Jhunjhunuwala ki Haveli,  Lakha ka ki Haveli, Mahali Dutt, Khetan Haveli,  Cenotaph of Thakur Chhotu Singh, Sri Lal Bahadur Mal Well and Jiwan Ram Marodia ka Talab.

Tourist Interest in Malsisar

Malsisar, A small village located at 32 km away from Jhujhunu. Here  Prem Giri Ji ka Math (a holy place), Banarshi Das Banka Haveli, Serh Mal Saraogi Haveli,  Banka’s Well, Jokhi Ram’s well, Saraogi’s Well are worth visiting on your shekhwati tour.

Surajgarh and Kajra Region in Shekhawati – Famous for Painted Havelis and Anicent Fort

About Kajra

Kajra is small town located at 48 kms from Jhujhunu and 5 km away from Surajgarh. This place is  famous for three Kajaria Havelis of the 19th century.

Though there are few 18th century Havelis, the village is dominant with Art-Deco period.

The change in the society is evident from the frescos and the architecture there and serves as a lovely example of how society and development changed from the 18th to the 19th century.

Surajgarh

Near Kajra, Surajgarh Fort is located.  It is a 4 acre palace is has been restored to a Shekhawati heritage hotel giving guests the experience of the royal past.  The Fort is managed by Tikaraj Aishwarya Katoch and Tikarani Shailija.

Surajgarh is also  famed for Laak bangles and souveniors, they are made at small shops in front of the guest in the colours and design preferred.
