Jaipur Heritage International Festival (JHIF) 2010 in Jaipur, Rajasthan – India’s Leading Community Based Arts Festival

Jaipur Heritage International Festival (JHIF) 2010, India’s leading community-based arts festival is being organized in jaipur.

JHIF_2010_website_1_01The JHIF 2010 was started on 14th Jan and it will run to 24 Jan 2010. In this period tourists and locals will be exposed to world class music, theatre, exhibition on built heritage, literature and lots more.

Activities in JHIF 2010

Some of the activities at JHIF includes cultural programmes by folk artistes, vocal recitals, stage shows, seminars, heritage walk and marathon, a car rally navigated by visually challenged people and exhibition.

Event Organizers

The management and delivery of JHIF 2010 is being handled by the Jaipur Heritage Citizens Festival Committee, Rajasthan CAN (Creative Alliance Network) and the Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF), based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Rajasthan.

Highlights of  JHIF 2010 Cultural Programme include:

  • (Jan 17th) ‘Banjaran – The Lore of Rajasthan’: A new musical composition by sitar maestro, Pandit Krishna Mohan Bhatt, inspired by love tales from Rajasthan and the many musical traditions that have roots this culturally fertile state.
  • (Jan 18th) Asia Electric: A high energy music collaboration featuring Jazz guru Louiz Banks on keyboards, multi-instrumental wizard Sivamani on world percussions and young virtuoso Ravi Chari on sitar;
  • (Jan 19th) ‘Ruhaniyat’: A programme of Sufi music conceived and presented by sarangi maestro, Ustad Sultan Khan, featuring Rekha Bharadwaj and Anwar Khan Manganiyar;
  • (Jan 20th) ‘Dharohar’: A new crossover band that recently rocked Mehrangarh Fort during Jodhpur RIFF 2009, featuring folk artists from Rajasthan with British-Asian beatboxer, Jason Singh;
  • (Jan 22nd) Salesman Ramlal: A contemporary adaptation of Arthur Miller’s classic play, Death of a Salesman, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan;
  • (Jan 23rd) The Caine Mutiny Court Martial: A gripping post-World War II courtroom drama directed by Naseeruddin Shah and presented by Motley Productions.

Celebrations of Rajasthan Day

It was not just another day in the pink city Jaipur yesterday. People woke up to the sound of Santoor, then witnessed a display of courage in the sky by Surya Kiran team. Afterwards they witnessed a scintillating performance by artists in the play ‘Raanghbhoomi’ and as the sun set, they were again engrossed in a musical concert.

These events were organized by the tourism department to the mark the Rajasthan Day celebrations.  Among all the exiting events, the most awaited was the aerobic show by Surya Kiran team. Hundred of spectators were thrilled to see the aircraft rolling from their back as it split into groups to carry out a variety of maneuvers like rolling crosses, inverted runs and loops.

The red and white colored fleet continued to roar in the sky for approx 20 minutes in which they displayed eight different formations – shockwave, phonix, tango, wedge, goblet, Yankee, benefit and delta along with 15 stunts.

They began with arrow head formation then moved to phoenix with 5 aircraft fling parallely and another one trailing behind. In the midst of the formation they enthralled the audience with rear entry loops and in last they dived vertically at a speed up to disperse in different directions.  The aircraft also released colorful smoke during the maneuvers to make the show visually appealing. The team etched tricolor in the sky.

Mittal Appointed to Monitor BJP Campaign in Rajasthan General Elections

Sundhanshu Mittal, who recently made headlines due to an alleged rift with Arun Jaitly, has been appointed to monitor the Bhartiya Janta Party campaign during forth coming elections.

This is not the first time that Mittal would be working with BJP. Prior to this, Mittal was part of the core team led by Promod Mahajan, which designed the election campaign for Vasundhra Raje in 2003 assembly elections.

According to sources Mittal has been particularly directed by senior leaders L.K advani and Rajanath singh to monitor the party campaign in Rajasthan.

The City of Jaipur or commonly referred to as the Pink City, has been hosting the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) since 2003.

Significance of JJS

The show was created with the intent of giving an impetus to the Gems and Jewellery trade; placing Jaipur on the World Jewellery Map of gems, craftsmanship and jewellery manufacturing.

Over the years, the show has increased its scale of hosting exhibitors from across the globe. Beginning with 67 stall in 2003, the show saw 354 exhibitors in 2007 and this year hold 357 booths at the Rajmahal Palace.

What also stands out about the JJS that it has become a significant event in the calender of the gems and jewellery show the world over. Aptly christened ‘The December Show’.

JJS also set new Standards in logistics and infrastructure. There were innumerable improvement in infrastructure and facilities provided to the jewellers.

The Show provides the world a chance to get a glimpse of jewellery of Jaipur and experience the magic called Jaipur. To the local players it gives an opportunity to network and keep abreast of exciting and innovative trends and products.

Attractions at JJS

JJS has emerged as the second largest jewellery show in India and has always been in the forefront as a showcase of new trends in jewellery. By instituting the awards they  appreciated their exemplary work at national and international levels.

Exhibitors from the world of Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Antique Jewelery, Pearls, Gemstones – Ruby, Sapphire, Opal, Emerald, Crystal, Equipment & Accessories of jewelery making have been  participated

What was unique this time around?

A unique feature introduced for the first time at the  show was jewellery bidding, with offerings of a wide spectrum of gems and jewellery, at attractive prices. There are 25 exhibition counters being offered at JJS 2008 on first-come-first-basis (product-wise). These counters  allotted to the following categories: tanzanite, stone studded jewellery, kundan meena products, loose stones and silver jewellery.

The show was also attended by eminent personalities from Jaipur and other parts of India, including the Members of the Royal Family of Jaipur. The fashion shows, gala dinners, big business and intensive networking activities have made JAS one of the most important jewellery shows in the country.
