Bundi is famous for its monuments, especially the Taragarh fort.

Other attractions of the city include Bhim Burj (the largest battlement), a huge water reservoir carved out of solid rock, Bundi palace, Raniji-ki-Baoli (Queen’s step well), Nagar Sagar Kund, Nawal Sagar, Dhabhai Kund and the Bhora-ji-ka-Kund.

There are also lots of Havelis situated around Bundi exhibiting interesting architectural features. Some famous havelis include Bhawani Singh ki Haveli, Zalim Singh Jhala House, Meghawan ji ki Haveli and Braj Bhushanjee Haveli.

Braj Bhushanjee Haveli was built around 200 year before and  belongs to Bohara Braj Bhushanjee family, which gave Bundi as many as four Prime Ministers all in the 19th Century.

This Haveli is situated just below the palace and its location make it very convenient for the tourist  to visit other places in the city and enjoy their traditional  life of Rajasthan and culture of this beautiful city.

The  rooms have been traditionally decorated and few rooms have some of the finest Bundi School Painting (murals) one can see in this region. In 1990, this Braj Bhushanjee have been converted into Heritage Hotel.

This medieval township strategically located in a valley is named after Bunda -a Mina chieftain who found the place in 1342 A.D.

The town came under the Hada Rajputs. It has several baoris  (Step-wells) and havelis surrounding by four gateways – Bhairon Gate on West, Chogan gate in South, Patanpol on East and Sehkul Baori gate on North.

One of the grandest haveli in the town is the Bhawani Singh ki Haveli in Nahar Ka Chautta area. It is a 17th century asymmetric, multi court haveli that belongs to the extended royal family of Bundi. The haveli is monumental in scale with five storeys and a basement.

The center of the forecourt has a masjid and a Shiva temple is located on the top floor. The haveli is representative of the local architecture in stone columns and brackets, triple arched projected jharokhas and lime plastered masonry.

Large portions of the haveli lie locked and one part (mardana section) is currently being used as a school.

How to reach Bundi

Bundi is around 210 kms by road from Jaipur and about 110 kms from Sawai Madhopur. Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar are all easily accessible by road from Kota.
