The Lokmanya Tilak College of Teacher Education in Udaipur was established in August 1966.
It is a part of deemed university which was founded by Late Manishi Pt Janardan Rai Nagar. The institute has since then produced 9000 graduate teachers and 1000 teachers qualified with M.Ed. and PhD.
Objective
The objective of college is to provide competent and committed school teachers by imparting education and skills. These teachers can then efficiently take the responsibility of developing the future of children. The institute is working on the mission to prepare teachers who can serve efficiently at all the levels of school education through inside and outside class activities in different situations.
Courses Offered and Institutions
Lokmanya Tilak College owns many other institutions which provides education in different areas of specification. M. V. Sharmjeevi College conducts programmes for Commerce and Arts and Institute of Rajasthan Studies Research Institute offers (M.A. (Arc.), Diploma in Vastu, German, French) etc.
The Lokmanya Tilak college offers teacher’s education courses such as B.Ed., B.ED (C.D) M.Ed., Ph.D. and S.T.C.  The college also conducts certification courses in yoga education. For admission in B.ED. the candidate has to clear Pre Teachers Education Test. The candidates are then selected on the merit basis.
Infrastructure
The institute has all basic facilities for the students including separate teaching blocks, computer section, and playground. The faculty at institute has post graduate qualifications as per the norms of the UGC and NCTE.
Extra Activities
A large number of activities are undertaken except theory classes. Different programs such as debates, workshops, sports, awareness programs for computer education etc are conducted so that the students can develop communication and personality skills.
Awards and Special Features
Lokmanya Tilak College got ‘A’ grade (7 stars) by the National Accreditation Council (NAAC) as an award. It is conducting a course of its own type at national level i.e. B.Ed. (Child Development) recognized by National Council of Teacher Education.
