Well-Planned Garden in Rajasthan

Vidhyadhar Gardens is the only well-planned garden in the Majestic city of Jaipur. Vidyadhar Garden was built in the memory of Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, the chief architect and the city planner of Jaipur.

The Garden has been designed as per the rules and edicts of Shilpa Shastra, the ancient Indian line of architecture, just as Vidyadhar did while planning Jaipur.

The terraced garden has several galleries, wonderfully sculpted fountains, sylvan lakes and pavilions decorated with exquisite murals depicting scene from the life of Lord Krishna.

Hawa Mahal – Most Recognizable Monument of Jaipur

Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. It’s one of the most recognizable monument of Jaipur. It adjoins the wall of  famous City Palace  which has now become one of the major landmarks of Jaipur city.

The palace is shaped like a pyramid and is a five-storied building, with number of small windows, screens and arched roofs. As one looks at this building, one realizes that the rear side of the building is comparatively very plain and lacks much of ornamentation.

About Hawa Mahal Museum

The Hawa Mahal museum in Jaipur City is situated in the Pratap Mandir, adjoining the Hawa Mahal. It was set up in the year 1983. The museum has a beautiful honeycomb structure cast in sandstone windows to allow the free passage of air through it.

This awesome structure carved exquisitely with white borders and motifs are painted with quicklime.

Different Exhibits of the Museum

The museum preserves the sculptural heritage collected from Ganeshwar, Virat Nagar, Raid, Sambhar and Nagar. Exhibits include items of terracotta, antiquities, fish hooks, arrow heads, swords, helmets and belongings of the Maharajas of Jaipur.

The main attraction of the museum is the big storage vessel of 2nd century A.D obtained during excavation at Naliasar (Sambhar).

Hawa Mahal  Museum opens at 10:00 Am and closes at 4.30 Pm daily except Fridays and government holidays.
