Chauth Mata Temple

Chauth mata temple is located at a distance of nearly 35 kms from Sawai Madhopur city in Rajasthan. The temple is situated on a hilltop and the visitors have to climb up the seemingly endless stairs.

History

It is believed that Maharaja Bhim Singh built the Chauth Mata Temple in Sawai Madhopur. He was known to have brought the idol of Chauth Mata from a place known as Pachala, located 15 kms south of Barwara and placed the idol on this hilltop. Due to this event, the place is also known as Chauth ka Bharwada.

Architecture of Chauth Mata Temple

The temple has a typical Rajput style. You can also see various designs which are being made from white marble. All the walls, pillars and the ceilings of the temples are beautifully decorated. The architectural design reflects the bygone era’s culture and heritage.

The temple has a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha and an idol of Bhairav within the main area.
